A healthcare worker convicted of sexual activity by penetration has been jailed for the “sickening and degrading abuse of trust”.

Damien Bible, 26, a healthcare adviser at The Parallel young persons health clinic in Bolton, carried out an internal swab on a 15-year-old girl.

He was jailed for three-and-a-half years at Bolton Crown Court. Detective Constable Claire Waring, of Bolton Family Support Unit, said: “This was a sickening and degrading abuse of trust.

“Bible knew his role did not involve taking swabs from patients, yet he portrayed himself as a competent health professional going about his business.

“He knew the girl would have no reason to suspect he was carrying out the swab illegally. I must also pay tribute to the victim in this case who has courageously come forward to provide evidence.”
