The clinical commissioning group (CCG) for Colwick Vale Surgery in Nottingham is consulting on its possible closure.

Due to “unsustainable costs”, the operator of the surgery (Trentside Medical Group) has decided that they won’t continue their five-year contract, which ends on Thursday 31 March 2016.

Commissioners at Nottingham North and East CCG will now consult on the potential closure of the surgery, which has not yet been rated by the Care Quality Commission.

However, in the recent GP survey 84% of patients said their overall experience of their GP surgery as fairly good or very good

Moreover, the practice got a higher than expected number of patients rating the GPs as good or very good at treating them with care and concern (86% compared to 85%) Similarly the practice received a 4% higher rating than expected for having nurses that are good or very good at involving them in decisions about their care (89% rather than 85%).

Trentside Medical Group also operates Netherfield Medical Centre in Nottingham, and patients from both surgeries are being asked for feedback on how the closure would affect them.
