AMSPAR (the Association of Medical Secretaries, Practice Managers, Administrators and Receptionists) has announced that its new qualification, the Level 2 Award in Medical Terminology for Non-Clinical Professionals, has been accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) for acceptance into the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).

Listing in the NQF means that courses are eligible for public funding. The new qualification will be taught by AMSPAR approved training providers from September 2007, and is also available as a home study course. The first examinations will take place in January 2008.

AMSPAR Chief Executive Tom Brownlie said: “AMSPAR is delighted to have our new Level 2 Award in Medical Terminology for Non-Clinical Professionals accredited by the QCA.

“We have provided this qualification in response to the demand of employers. It meets the needs of those who need a basic understanding of medical terminology, as opposed to the more indepth knowledge provided by our Level 3 Certificate in Medical Terminology for Non-Clinical Professionals.”

The Level 2 Award in Medical Terminology for Non-Clinical Professionals is is the fifth AMSPAR qualification to receive the QCA’s seal of approval.
