Practices link to offer 8am-8pm services

Practices in Radcliffe are joining forces to offer GP appointment Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm.

The pilot scheme is part of the ‘Healthier Radcliffe’ project, which aims to offer more routine and urgent GP appointments at times that are convenient to patients

If the six-practice pilot is successful, the scheme could be rolled out across Greater Manchester.

The local community will be offered education and information on local services.

Dr Peter Thomas, a local GP who is involved in the Healthier Radcliffe project said: “This is a really exciting opportunity to test out a new way of working to improve access to services in the community.  The six GP practices serving Radcliffe patients are totally committed to offering each and every one of our 34,000 patients better access to our services.

“Whether it’s a routine appointment in the evening without the need to take time off work, or an urgent appointment at the weekend, ultimately we want to secure a healthier Radcliffe by being more accessible and responsive, and as a result improving the patient experience and health outcomes.”

Dr Kiran Patel, chair and clinical lead for Bury clinical commissioning group (CCG) said: “The whole ethos of the project fits in with the CCG’s vision and values, to improve health and wellbeing by improving access to primary care. I’m delighted that Bury has been given the opportunity and congratulate the practices in setting this project up so quickly and with such enthusiasm.”
