CETNet – the NHS Alliance Primary Care Trust (PCT) Chief Executives’ Transformation Network – has been set up in response to demands from members for a forum for senior managers who see their role as working in partnership with clinicians.

Uniquely, NHS Alliance membership spans managers and clinicians equally – and PCTs and GP practices equally too. It is the only organisation that can bring practices and PCTs together.

CETNet is already planning a joint publication with the Alliance’s Practice-Based Commissioning Federation that will describe the environment and ingredients needed to achieve transformatory change through PbC.

Tim Riley, chief executive of Tameside & Glossop PCT, is the new national lead for CETNet, supported by PBC and CETNet director Julie Wood. Tim said: “PCT Chief Executives see the need for a network that enables the collective power of clinicians and senior managers to come together. I believe that this is crucial if we are to achieve a lasting and patient-centred transformation of NHS services.

“PCTs are uniquely placed to reconnect with primary care clinicians and local communities. It is critical we all do this well. That is what CETNet will be focusing on.”

NHS Alliance chairman Dr Michael Dixon said: “Making sure that clinicians and managers work side by side for the benefit of patients has been an NHS Alliance passion for many years. The interest we are now getting from chief executives is tremendously encouraging. I am confident that CETNet will show the NHS the best way forward for the future.”
