Government selects GMC to regulate physician associates

Friday 19th July 2019

The General Medical Council (GMC) has been selected to regulate physician associates, following agreement from all four UK Governments.
Last year the Government said it would push forward with legislation to regulate the new role, but it was still undecided as to which body would be responsible for monitoring physician associates (PAs).
The Government confirmed today that the GMC will regulate both PAs and anaesthesia associates.
